Alpha Box & Dice ‘Fog’ Nebbiolo
More famous for producing the great Barolos of Piemonte, the Nebbiolo grape has found a home in Australia's Adelaide Hills. It's typically a tricky grape to produce outside of north west Italy, but the Alpha Box & Dice is a cracking take on this classic Italian red. It's slightly more ripe and fruit forward than you'd get from northern Italy, but you get all those familiar notes of tobacco and rose petals, and even hints of Turkish Delight and sandalwood. A super little wine if you're a Nebbiolo fan - maybe try blind tasting this with Alasia Barolo would be a great wine to do this with.
A modern, cutting-edge collection of wines - just look at the labels - from the passionate and slightly bonkers trio of Dylan and Justin Fairweather and winemaker Sam Berketa. AB&D was founded in McLaren Vale in 2008 and is unconventional in its approach; there are no ‘regional, varietal or stylistic’ boundaries, just great wines from great fruit.
