Only a handful of producers in Rioja have Tempranillo Blanco, which is a natural mutation of the red Tempranillo grape, so we were super excited to add this intriguing white to our portfolio.
Bodegas Ontanon is a 5th generation family-owned and run winery situated in Rioja Oriental, and we were lucky enough to visit their vineyards in May 2023. The Tempranillo Blanco was one of our favourite whites from the trip, with delicate citrus, stone fruit and orange blossom aromas. A little lees ageing brings a lovely texture to the wine, but those stone fruit flavours really follow through on the palate. Perfect with roasted veggies or a tasty mushroom risotto.
